Best Hotels in Ireland For Couples | Our Top Reviews

Hey friends! Today, we’re diving into the best hotels in Ireland, especially those perfect for couples. Ireland has it all when it comes to romantic getaways, from cliffside retreats to quirky, adults-only stays. Let’s skip the long intro and get right to it!

Here’s a list of amazing Irish getaways that offer:

  • A romantic setting
  • Great on-site facilities (like  spas)
  • Plenty of nearby activities

Ballyfin, County Laois

You can bet you are Irish and have heard of Ballyfin, the best-known hotel in the world.

Imagine this: entering an actual life fairy weekend at Ballyfin, a beautifully exceptional country house holiday in one of the most beautiful settings at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The 5-star retreat Ballyfin is a meeting point of luxury and peace, a place that is great to stay with a couple. This restored mansion is a perfect place to spend a romantic weekend, as it is known to have beautiful rooms, great service, and a calming atmosphere.

Access and proximity of activities:

Ballyfin is nestled on the foothills of Slieve Bloom Mountains, County Laois( R32 PN34, Ireland) the best place to have a tour of the natural beauty and history of this County.

The Slieve Bloom Mountains are a dream come true for a hiker as they offer unending walks with breathtaking views.

The environment is one of the finest in the whole world and things are luxurious. The reconstruction of this great edifice speaks volumes; I suppose it may have required as much time to restore as it had to erect in the first instance.

Do not feel like going out, no problem. There are numerous on-site activity options Ballyfin offers itself which makes it the favorite of people.

On-Site Activities:

Horse Riding: As with any time machine adventure, riding around the grounds in high boots and saddles was an amazing experience.

Falconry: Yes, I wrote an essay on Falconry. It is too cool to be true.

Fishing and Boating: One lazy afternoon, I fished and boated in the lake.

Bikes and Buggies: Ideal way to ride around the 614-acre property.

Clay Pigeon Shooting: It was enjoyable and Lionel was so bright in giving us different instructions on how to shoot.

Enough said, I enjoyed my visit here because of the activities. Most of them cost you a worthwhile extra.

Not to worry, the choices are numerous and these include air rifle target shooting, archery, horse and carriage ride and the Ballyfin picnic. I can promise you that you will get something to enjoy each day.

Atmosphere:

Ballyfin combines severity and comfort with fun. There are huge and luxurious reception rooms. This majestic Saloon in the centre of the house, the long eighty-foot library, and the sunlit Conservatory, which is approached by a secret door in the bookshelves of the library, Ballyfin is a delight of surprises. Irish antiques and artwork decorate the house giving it an ambience of class and history.

Accommodation:

Now those rooms,–there are only 20 of them,–and each is a masterpiece of design. Imagine mammoth four-poster beds, marble bathrooms and the type of comfy furnishings that you can just hole up in. Then there is a one-bed Gardener Cottage in case you want just a little more privacy.

The room was a state room overlooking the front of the house and lake and yes, as in the right side of the pictures, this was all that is expected out of a top 5-star hotel and more.

Facilities:

Spa: I went to a spa day and I can tell you the services are top-notch and relaxing.

Indoor Pool: This pool is a looker with a view of the courtyard garden and it is as peaceful as it can be. Ideal to take a swim in the morning.

Dining:

The Ballyfin food is just heavenly. Between the gourmet food in a room that resembled a set out of a period drama and ingredients that are locally sourced, it was pure ecstasy at every bite. You must be a foodie (a bit) to be able to savor the food (and the tasting menu, in particular). The wine list is remarkably nice, and you do not have to drain your bank account to get a really good wine. What about the wine matching? Chef’s kiss!

Ballyfin Demesne packs

These are some of the packages that are offered and are quite entertaining at Ballyfin Gourmet Escape: Summer Indulgence Package (3 Nights), Activities Package (1 Night), a Romantic Package and lots more. Guest Experience:

I found the staff of Ballyfin amazing- hospitality ninjas, who could seem to appear or disappear at any time, without ever invading your privacy. They ensured that each moment was special, including personalized service and little things that made the stay a memorable one.

We were on a wedding anniversary and this was widely recognized in a stylish manner by the hotel and the staff. The most professional team managed to do everything with minute details and demands. It goes without saying that training is a very important part of Ballyfin since the service quality was outstanding. And Claire Russell who wanders around and sees that all the people there are provided with everything and nothing is wrong, the way they want it or require.

Summary: Why choose Ballyfin?

Historic Mansion: The Regency mansion itself is historic in art being carefully restored in a matter of eight years.

Under the Radar and Personal: There are just 20 rooms on a large property; therefore, the level of privacy and exclusivity is rather high.

Activities and Experiences: Clay pigeon shooting is only one of the examples of activities that Ballyfin offers; The picnic experience is another example of the activities offered by the hotel making the guest experience unique.

Romantic Feel: A high-end and historic hotel in a small place.

Ballyfin is an epitome of luxury and grandeur with a touch of history, romance and nature. It offers extraordinary types of services, luxurious travel conditions, and a broad variety of activities, and therefore, becomes one of the best places to spend time off with a loved one and enjoy a romantic, luxurious holiday.

Therefore, do go to the Ballyfin Hotel. You can also check out their site to book yourself: Ballyfin Demesne

County Galway, Ballynahinch Castle

Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, located in the stunning Connemara area of County Galway is a real escape into the beauty of Irish nature. Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is more than a hotel, and it is what the place is and a feel of the rugged beauty of Ireland and its history. Located on a 700-acre estate, this hotel, whose theme was once a castle, gives the ideal mix of luxury, adventure and rest. As soon as you get there, you hear the soothing river and the green forests of the area in which this beautiful place is located.

Accommodation:

The castle hotel has 48 exquisitely furnished bedrooms and suites all comfortable and luxurious with views over the river, the mountains or the woodland. The Classic Riverside Rooms are all in the original house and two of the Superior Rooms.

The newer wing has the Luxury rooms and Riverside Suites as well as the remaining Superior rooms that offer breathtaking river and woodland views. The luxury rooms are meant to host three persons, whereas other classes include two. The stand-alone Lottery Lodge and Owenmore Cottage offer an exclusive escape.

The room you select will be comfortable and you will have no problems with rest and sleep. In Ballynahinch, I was lodged in one of its most luxuriously furnished rooms, where the panorama is such as to suggest poetry in any one having the slightest touch of it about him – to wake up in the morning to the noise of the river at your feet, and to see the mists gather over the mountains. The rooms are tastefully decorated, with old-fashioned but up-to-date facilities.

However, note that there is no lift in the hotel and some parts are not completely accessible. The reason is that the castle is a historical building and a building that is under protection and such alterations to the structure are not allowed.

Buildings and Events

Activities: The guests are welcome to indulge in:

  • Fly-fishing on the salmon fishery (the salmon fishing here is the best that you can get within miles of it) which is well known to the hotel.
  • Hiking tours lead to the Twelve Bens and the Maumturk Mountains.
  • Biking along the banks of the lakes.
  • Woodcock shooting,
  • Boat excursions along the nearby Roundstone village which includes a visit to a deserted Island and lobster fishing as well as amazing hiking.
  • And, the discovery of the Wild Atlantic Way.
  • Great vacation offers

Other facilities: The hotel has

  • large hiking paths,
  • a garden that has a wall,
  • and bicycles so as to explore the neighborhood.
  • Visitors can also relax around one of the half a dozen open-log fires around the castle.

Now the good news is that… They will provide you with experts who help you in all activities, on the sea, in the mountains, rivers and trails, or in the library to discover the rich culture of this beautiful region.

At 9:30 am, we have one of the experienced fishing guides and the walking guide, Kieran, in Reception every morning over a coffee and a chat. It does not matter whether you have already booked something, need to book something, or just want a bit of advice, they will be there to make your day start well.

I spent my time with them fly-fishing on their famous salmon fishery which is not only limited to catching but also a state of nirvana all about being in the midst of nature. The Guided hikes of the Twelve Bens Mountains were eye-catching and difficult to describe their beauty.

And, Oh!, the snug Fisherman’s Pub. Fisherman Philos pub with its roaring fires and good food, became my place to spend an evening with a pint and good stories of the day’s adventures.

Dining:

I have already told you about The Fisherman’s Pub, where I took my lunch and dinner before a warm open-log fire. Dinner is also served in the Owenmore Restaurant which was the best part of my stay.

The reputation of the Owenmore Restaurant as a fine-dining place is justified. It also received the Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant of the Year in Ireland in January 2024, at the Gold Medal Awards. The food was a treat to the senses, as it was made out of fresh local ingredients. I just adored the fact that the menu is seasonal and so each time I visit Ballynahinch, I will not be bored with a similar selection of dishes. The ambience was like dinner but casual enough to make every meal a special occasion.

The philosophy of the hotel is that it accepts non-resident clients to have their meals at the Owenmore Restaurant and the pub. Due to this, you can observe a constant flow of visitors who walk through the lounges and the building, photograph rooms and the art, and even use the hotel as a tourist attraction. This may prove to be quite tricky to totally relax and enjoy the hotel.

Nearby Attractions:

Travelling in Connemara was a great experience. Due to its position on the Wild Atlantic Way, it is a perfect place to experience all the natural beauty and cultural sites of the area, as Connemara National Park, Killary Harbour, Inishbofin Island, and the picturesque Sky Road are close to it.

By visiting the local Connemara National Park, a boat trip through the picturesque village of Roundstone, and all the other excursions we experienced the wild and rough west coast of Ireland. And the drive along the Wild Atlantic Way was just awe-inspiring and each bend showed an even more beautiful picture.

Guest Experience:

The thing that impressed me the most was the friendliness of the staff and their real hospitality. Be it by providing me with insider information on the most beautiful hiking paths or by making sure that I had the most pleasant experience across all aspects of my stay, they deserve the title of making me feel like a member of the Ballynahinch family. I promise you this, at this place all your guests will feel welcome and spoiled.  It is not a cheap thing but definitely worth the effort

Summary: Why is it good for couples?

Historic Charm: A 4-star castle hotel that has historical values and antique decor. Best vacation packages

The natural Beauty: Set amid woodlands, rivers and mountains.

Outdoor activities: Fishing, hiking and woodcock shooting, boat trips and riding.

Warm and friendly atmosphere with fireplaces and small living rooms.

 Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is much more than a stage to put your head on the pillow and later wake up. The present castle construction was completed in the year 1754 and since that time, it has been very much exposed to modifications;

However, it appears to the visitor that one is being transported back to the past. An exploration of Ireland, this is a trip to the past and present of a beautiful island where the lap of luxury is mixed with adventure in the most magical location possible.

No matter whether you are adventurous, want to find delectable food, or just enjoy a relaxing vacation in the woods, Ballynahinch Castle will provide you with a memorable stay along the Wild Atlantic Way.

I want to know whether you guys are staying here, okay?

The Ice House, County Mayo

Located in the beautiful setting of the Mayo coast, a short drive away from Sligo, The Ice House Hotel is a contemporary, chic hotel with its old-world charm. The unusual style, the funky furniture, and the magnificent architecture may leave you with a feeling that you are somewhere in the centre of a noisy city.

But as you step into the room and have a view of the magnificent scenery on the riverside, you will realize that you are somewhere very quiet. Most suitable vacation packages

This hotel exquisitely incorporates the world in one without any difficulty. The hotel is situated on the banks of the calm River Moy with romantic escapes that are serene. It has luxury, peace and calm surroundings.

Should you wish to find weekend breaks in Ireland, among the couples-oriented, at least insofar as relative aspects of the spa side of things are concerned, then The Ice House Hotel in Ballina may as well be the fairy tale hotel of your fantasy.

Accommodation:

Just imagine greeting the morning with the sound of the river and enjoying a nice view of the landscape you will see right outside your windows when you wake up. The Ice House Hotel has rooms that are crafted to be impressive in that they will have floor-to-ceiling lead windows that give panoramic views of the river and the woodlands around.

When I was staying in the Ice House Hotel, I spent my time gazing through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my room that offered me panoramic views. Its bedrooms and suites are so ultra-luxurious that they are done up with super king-sized beds and underfloor heating with stylish furnishing that exquisitely suits the waters of the river.

I had a great experience staying in my room but I noticed some individuals had complaints concerning poor soundproofing, maintenance and misleading description of the advertisement. All you have to chance would be to be slightly careful of this when you are planning to stay.

Equipment and Events:

The best part about the ice house is obviously the award-winning Chill Spa. This serene sanctuary provides a variety of rejuvenating services, including seaweed baths as well as exclusive massage, wherein you can be in awe, witnessing the scenic view. The outdoor hot tubs and the sauna cabin on the riverside are the most appropriate places to relax and experience the natural beauty in the comfort of the bubbles.

In the times you are not spoiling yourself in the treatment rooms, you can go out and visit the local sites such as Enniscrone Beach, the Ceide Fields, etc

Local Exploration:

The experience of going around Ballina was pleasant. There are ample activities to engage in the beauty of County Mayo as well, such as a round of golf on its local golf courses, horse riding, or a day fishing on the Moy.

The Ice House Hotel is perfectly situated to enjoy the North Mayo coastline as well as to explore the Wild Atlantic Way. Ceide fields as well as Enniscrone beach and other natural wonders, are only a moment’s drive away.

There is horse riding, Moy fishing or the Wild Atlantic Way. Works by Irish artists such as Charles Tyrrell, Martin Gale and John Devlin will also be on display throughout the hotel and are sure to satisfy art lovers visiting the hotel.

To golfers, courses in Enniscrone, Carne and Rosses Point are only a few minutes’ drive and the stuff to make any golf fanatic take in deep sips of air inspiring pretty scenery and tough fairways.

And should you wish to get out and about, the colorful town of Ballina and the numerous shops, a wide range of cafes as well as cultural venues, is not too far a drive.

Dining:

The  Ice House Hotel is a treat to dine at and the 54 9 Restaurant certainly is the place to go, overlooking the River Moy. The 54 9 restaurant is in the original ice store of the building, which serves local food in its modern version. We sampled the healthy meals and they were terrific. The complimentary continental breakfast in the morning was very nice and never took long even during rush hours at the eatery.

The comfort level of the restaurant and the delicious local food along with the best service out there make the restaurant the best place to eat with the views being the icing on the cake. The Cocktail Bar is an ideal place to have a drink in a composed atmosphere, making the hotel more sophisticated. Complement your food with a good wine or with an original cocktail of the fashionable bar and you will have the perfect recipe for an inimitable evening.

Guest Experience:

During my stay in Kuala Lumpur, I was also amazed at how the hospitality staff treated me, which was very welcoming and made my stay nearly perfect. Deirdre at the reception was very nice and chatty and gave us advice on the area. They did everything to please the guests, including personalized tips, service, and recommendations at every corner.

As soon as you come to this hotel, the welcome turnover is very comfortable, and the kind, professional employees guarantee a damage-free stay.  It has little things, such as freshly baked biscuits that they replace every day in the rooms, which make one feel very pampered. Visitors always commend all the rich breakfasts, the wealth of the spa and the peaceful ambiance in general.

Summary: Why ice house?

  • Modern Comfort: Design of the modern style, having panoramic views of the River Moy.
  • Relaxing Spa: Funky spa outdoor hot tubs and Thermal suite.
  • Riverside Setting: serene and scenic locale of the waterside.
  • Gourmet Dining:  Excellent restaurant with locally based meals.
  • Local attractions: Beach, Enniscrone, Ceide Fields and North Mayo Coast

The Ice House Hotel is an attraction, not only a hotel; the luxurious fusion of the contemporary building as well as the environmental landscape makes this place a unique experience.  No matter where you choose to relax (in the Chill Spa, enjoy a meal with a view of the River Moy or discover the beauty of County Mayo) all the experiences at the Ice House will be a breath of fresh air. Check, chill out and allow the wizardry of the Ice House Hotel to revitalize your body and soul.

County Waterford, The Cliff House

Visiting the Cliff House Hotel was an exciting event. I heard the building is sort of attached to the outer edge of a cliff on the south side of Ardmore Bay looking out on an ancient fishing village. They say that one can see Ardmore’s golden beaches, lobster pots, and dolphins frolicking in the water with the sunny terraces and their own private balconies. Can you see why I was so excited?

And the Cliff House Hotel came up to all my expectations.

Location and Views:

A five-star resort, the Cliff House Hotel is a peaceful and relaxing place in Ardmore in County Waterford, on the Cork-Waterford coast. It is characterized by its breathtaking views of the sea and there is no single side of the hotel that is not beautiful to be stared at through its glimpse of Ardmore Bay.

The Cliff House’s magic lies in the fact that it combines the ability to look out on the sea everywhere in the hotel. In case you book a sea view room, you will get to see and hear the ocean from your bed. You will be admiring the setting of the sun over the horizon as you relax with a meal in the Michelin-star restaurant. In the spa lounge, you will have the feeling that the pool is going to pour into the sea.

Accommodations:

Cliff House Hotel only has 39 rooms. Yes, you can say it is one of the tiniest romantic hotels in Ireland in this guide but by God, it punches well above its size.

Practically every room and suite of the Cliff House Hotel is created to make the stay as comfortable and peaceful as possible, equipped with their own balconies or terraces with a view of the Irish Sea. The rooms vary between Cliff Veranda Suites and Terrace Suites as well as Luxury Doubles, that all contain Wi-Fi and flatscreen televisions. All the rooms overlook the sea and most of them lead to each other, so that they offer family-friendly options.

The hotel is designed in modern Irish style where the walls are white, cupola stone pillars, roof terraces covered with sedum moss and terraces made of limestone. The Irish art and lavish furniture gently coincide with modern conveniences and give the facility a stylish coastal aesthetic.

The bathroom similarly is a treat with its mosaic colour tiles in colour and colourful glass that works well against the granite grey stone that is particular to the hotel.

My room had a sea view that was much more than passed expected. My room was the refuge of comfort and style and it had a personal balcony with panoramic views of the Irish Sea. The walls of the windows that reached the ceiling were a perfect frame for the breathtaking view of the ocean. My day would always be brightened up by waking up to the sounds of waves or watching the sunset while in my bed. You will like it.

Dining Experience:

Having a meal at the House Restaurant was like going on a gastronomic tour. The Michelin star menu presented the finest local ingredients perfectly cooked to produce incredible tastes.

The House Restaurant is an innovative dining place with high quality and seasonal menu which serves the freshest and the best food- it might be a lobster, caught in the morning, a crab out of the bay or locally reared livestock matched with home-grown vegetables. The sourcing of local food is also close to him and Martijn has even set up an organic vegetable garden with St Raphael Centre in Youghal. Every dish was a masterpiece, which, combined with the luxurious mood in the restaurant and mesmerizing view over the seas made the total impression of the restaurant just outstanding. The ambiance, particularly at sunset dinners brought some magic to each one of the meals.

The Bar Restaurant has a more casual setting and is ideal when it comes to consuming finer but friendly food. The menu offers a huge variety of sandwiches and tasty seafood cuisine, such as seafood chowder and beef rib-eye fillet. The steaks of rib-eye are melt-in-the-mouth and the desserts are the next level of classical Irish comfort food.

Both restaurants are places one can visit and never forget the taste of the dishes and the pretty ocean setting as the background.

Wellness and Spa:

The Well Spa by the Sea is serene as a means of relaxation. Guests will have the option of a variety of treatments with organic seaweed products or simply relax in the large swimming pool in perfect harmony with the ocean in the distance. Outdoor activities are abundant as well, such as a visit to Ardmore Beach, coastal walks or water sports activities organised by the hotel.

I had various treatments such as their notorious seaweed bath and massage. The design of the spa complemented that of the natural setting, making me rest, and gazing at the sea. The outdoor Jacuzzi was particularly remarkable as it offered a fantastic chill-out experience and gave a spectacular seaside view.

Activities and Nearby Attractions:

It was a pleasure to discover Ardmore and the surrounding area. The cliff footpaths were incredible and I was in love with the old Round Tower and strolling around the tiny streets of the village. The hotel was strategically placed just near the beach allowing us some recreational walk and relaxation near the sea.  Water sports, such as kayaking or deep-sea fishing activities arranged by the hotel, will be a dream for you, in case you like outdoor activities. Or, simply, you may relax on Ardmore Beach and sun.

Service and Atmosphere:

The employees at Cliff House Hotel were excellent during my visit. They were welcoming, they were nice, and they always got an inch ahead of me, ensuring I got all that I needed. They were very active assisting me in planning some activities such as recommending interesting places to visit in the area and also making reservations about spa services.

The hotel is famous for authentic Irish hospitality. The atmosphere, laid back and pleasant, compensates more than a little to claim there have been complaints of even small-scale problems related by some guests here and there.

Summary: Why choose The Cliff House?

  • Location: located on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
  • Luxury clearance: Five-star services are provided, mainly focusing on pleasure and design.
  • Fine Dining- Michelin-Starred Dining: All dining options at the House restaurant are exceptional.
  • Spa and Wellness: Detailed spa services and considerable panoramic views of the sea.

My experience at Cliff House Hotel was quite magical. It is an ideal combination of luxury and natural beauty where all details are perfectly arranged so that your visit could be special. It does not matter whether you want a romantic getaway or a relaxing seaside vacation; I would never want to recommend the Cliff House Hotel instead. It is a real jewel along the gorgeous Irish coast. You may check out their website: https://cliffhousehotel.ie/

The County Kerry Lake Hotel

Ask me which is a hotel with the easiest access location, and it will be the Lake Hotel. It is a safe and secure, green-friendly, family-run hotel and it has free parking that is located right on the shores of Lake Killarney. It is in the best location on Muckross Road and the best venue to start the Ring of Kerry tours and the Killarney National Park. Actually, the Lake Hotel is the beginning and the finishing point of the Ring of Kerry.

The Lake Hotel, located in Killarney is a popular 4-star hotel that has defined Irish hospitality over the 100 or so years that it has been in existence. Entering the Lake Hotel in Killarney was like entering a serene oasis with history, as well as the natural beauty of nature.

Atmosphere: A Haven in History

The Lake Hotel is a family-owned hotel that has existed for more than 100 years and you can sense its history as soon as you land there. The hotel has been owned by the Huggard family since the 1940s, who have maintained the old-fashioned status of the hotel whilst ensuring that they provide contemporary convenience to the visitors.

Strolling through the halls with the old photographs and antique furniture, I almost could hear the sounds of yesteryear, and one of them was an alleged visit of Queen Victoria in the year 1861. It also has paths through the hotel grounds to the ruins of the 12th-century McCarthy Mor Castle, which contributes to its historical interest.

Luxurious Accommodations

The Lake Hotel rooms are furnished with contemporary facilities and a breathtaking vista. My room was an interesting mixture of antique style and modern luxury. I was fortunate as I had a balcony with the serenity of the beautiful lake and the magnificence of the distant mountains.

Also, the jacuzzi, which was in an ideal location to allow me to get the breathtaking views, was my favorite after a day of exploring. Although other reviews have indicated that the decor was either too warm or dated, I personally thought that I was in one of the most comfortable rooms with an immaculately clean space.

They have special offers that include the stay and Dine, romance by the lake, stay and explore and Staycation breaks. It is always worth visiting!

Dining Delights

The Lake Hotel dining was amazing. A wake-up morning coffee in the Sun Lounge, a conventional breakfast in the dining room will begin your day. Gazing over the gardens is the Castlelough Restaurant which serves fine Irish food. It holds four consecutive AA Rosettes for its quality food that uses local produce. They have an executive chef named Noel Enright, who was given the Chef of the Year award in the Irish Hotel Awards 2019, to ensure an amazing meal.

The restaurants are as follows:

  • The Lakeside Bistro: Provides light and medium-sized cuisines and excellent scenery.
  • Classic Afternoon Tea: Served on the Lough Lein Room, just right on a laid-back afternoon.

My two AA Rosette restaurants, the Castlelough Restaurant, did not fail in terms of meeting my expectations. The food of Chef Noel Enright was local and tasted good. My favourites were the fresh seafood and the Irish taste. The Devil Punch Bowl Bar was a small place to enjoy your evening drink, where the charm comes in the form of a warm fireplace.

The Adventures and Activities

There is a wellness and fitness center at the Lake Hotel, with a jacuzzi with a mountain view. It was very well placed as a launching pad for my Killarney adventures.

Killarney National Park, which is a mere step away, had countless activities to engage in, such as:

  • Exercise aisles
  • Hiking and mountain climbing
  • Equestrian activities and biking
  • Boating and fishing
  • Golfing
  • Jaunting car outings and family-oriented events
  • The finest vacation packages

The hotel has its own boat-trips, fishing-excursions and jaunting-car rides, free of charge, if booked at its pier. Other local attractions can also be visited which include Muckross Abbey, Muckross House, Torc Waterfall and Dinis Cottage.

There is no boredom, with all the activities available in this area like hiking through the Muckross House and Abbey, biking through the scenic views and riding a horse through the mountains.

Among the best things at the hotel was a boat trip that I took with the hotel. We took leave of the hotel pier and went across the serene waters of the lake with beautiful landscaping.

Guest Experience:

The Lake Hotel had amazing service. Not only were the staff professional and efficient, but they were also very friendly and keen to ensure my stay was memorable. They were perfect in giving out attractions and activities in the area and were very welcoming in their Irish hospitality.

The variety of good food and the all-you-can-eat breakfast at the restaurant were fantastic. The amount of parking space that was there was something that I loved so much and the entire place was well cleaned. The idyllic place by a beautiful lake less than 2km outside of Killarney town was ideal.

Summary: Why choose The Lake Hotel?

  • Lakeside Beauty: This is on the shores of Lake Lein with a view of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks.
  • Historic Charm: Family glory Hotel with a hospitable feeling environment.
  • Romantic location: Stunning grounds, quiet environs.
  • Activities: Outside activities and access to Killarney National Park.

My experience at The Lake Hotel was purely marvelous. Its combination of rich history, comfortable facilities and beautiful surroundings has resulted in a memorable experience. The Lake Hotel, Killarney has it all whether you want a romantic break, an active vacation or simply a quiet time out. You will be fresh and inspired after visiting. This is a beauty that you do not want to miss out on. Visit their site: The Lake Hotel Killarney.

Adare Manor, County Limerick

County Limerick Adare Manor Adare Manor is a neo-Gothic take a bow deep-seated in a sweeping 840-acre examination of the River Maigue. The luxury resort is a five-star hotel, which combines both historical treasures and modern facilities, thus being one of the most prestigious and romantic hotels in Ireland.

Accessibility

The location of Adare Manor is perfect:

  • A half-hour drive outside Shannon Airport
  • Two hours drive away from Dublin

Outside the gates of the manor, there is the lovely village of Adare that offers traditional thatched cottages, antique shops, boutiques, and welcoming pubs.

Architectural Splendor

The view of the stately neo-Gothic architecture took a breath out of my breath away when I arrived at Adare Manor. The manor is superbly blended in an 840-acre estate and located next to the tranquil River Maigue.

The neo-Gothic building is present in the original form and is distinctive because of the Calendar House, which involved:

  • 365 leaded windows
  • 52 decorative chimneys
  • 7 stone monuments
  • 4 towers

These elements are interpreted as days, weeks and seasons of the year. Even the interior is impeccable and detail is taken care of particularly in the reception rooms and in the 104 stunningly designed bedrooms. Visitors also have the opportunity to stay at one of the lodges or cottages, one of which, the exclusive Chocolatier House, due to be opened in Easter 2024, will be a haven for chocolate lovers.

Luxurious Accommodations

Adare Manor has a number of accommodations:

  • Classic Rooms: The classic rooms have the striking views of the River Maigue and the golf course.
  • Deluxe Rooms: Bigger, luxurious furniture.
  • Signature Suites: Offer a butler serving you, carved wood paneling, stucco ceilings, and furnishings that are nice and fancy in the Georgian era.

I was accommodated in one of the Classic Rooms, whose view was excellent with the uproarious River Maigue, and the aesthetic golf course. Although it is the most affordable type, the room was by no means basic. It was king-size bedded with a gorgeous marble bath with a rain shower and it had a combination of sumptuous cloths and original paintings making it both luxurious and homey.

Dining Excellence

Eating in Adare Manor is an outstanding experience. They have-

  • The Oak Room: Award-winning restaurant with Italian-inspired Irish foods.
  • The 40-Metre Gallery: A pleasant place to have afternoon tea comprised of wall hangings, stained windows and choir stalls.
  • The Carriage House: the Art Deco dining room is stylish and there is a comfortable bar upholstered with velvet.
  • The Tack Room: The underground bar that has 160 rare whiskeys.

It was amazing to eat at Adare Manor! The Oak Room is a restaurant with a marvelous meal and the best Irish food. The 40-metre Gallery, with its wall hangings and stained glass windows, was the perfect venue to have an afternoon tea. I felt like a king having some of the tasty pastries and tasting the unpalatable teas as I sat in this historic gallery.

Activities and Amenities

There is a lot of activity that Adare Manor presents you with that fits all interests. I had a morning on the Ryder Cup golf championship course, a Tom Fazio design, that will host the tournament in 2027. The course was scenic and difficult as well with vistas that were likely to put off even the most determined golfer.

The Padel Club is also another modern club I visited, which has a padel court, a sports simulator, and an oasis-like swimming pool. The combination of the assortment of activities offered to me enabled me to keep busy and relaxed during my stay.

Walking around the 840-acre magnificent parkland was an adventure in itself. The Woodland Walk, with its treasure-hunt trail with fairy signs, was delightful. One could not help but feel magical with the walled gardens and the ancient Cedar of Lebanon.

The On-site activities that they take part in are falconry, archery, and fishing. There are also off-site activity adventures like horseback riding and clay shooting.

The Falconry by Susan was a memorable one. She was knowledgeable and was also full of enthusiasm, so our backstage experience with eagles and owls felt really special and became one of the favorite moments of my visit.

The Spa

Adare Manor had a serene spa. It featured the 111SKIN concept of spas that existed in Ireland. The high-ceilinged group pool, 26 feet wide, had natural light that was ideal for relaxing. I took a spa treatment that was based on Irish stories making me feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
